Thank You Card

I needed a thank you card, so I broke out my new hostess set, Word on Word. I think this is my favourite hostess set this year!
I used the slit punch for the scallops and punched holes with my paper piercer. I stamped the lion from Wild About You in both Wasabi and Celery, and cut them out. The head is popped up with a pop dot.
Stamps: Word on Word, Wild About You
Ink: Wild Wasabi, Certainly Celery
CS: Wild Wasabi, Certainly Celery, Whisper White
Acc: celery grosgrain, 1 3/8" circle punch, 1 1/4" circle punch, paper piercer, pop dot, slit punch.

New Blogger Featured Artist (06-29)

The New Blogger Featured Artist is something I started last Friday. It is intended to share new, amazingly talented bloggers with the rest of the world!
Valorie Wibbens has only been blogging since May, but already she has posted a tutorial! She is a SAHM with a passion for art and crafts. "I think of myself as an artist who stumbled upon the world of stamping and scrapbooking and fell in love. I became a Stampin Up! demonstrator when I just couldn't get enough!" says Valerie. And I just can't get enough of her amazing creations!

Her cards are so beatifully detailed and well composed. This is just a small sample of what Valerie has posted on her blog! She has even posted a tutorial for an Open Gate Card...so cool! It is really worth your while to check out Basement Bliss! You will surely be inspired!

Boho Chic

Super busy day with Day Care today, which is why I'm only posting now.
This was for a sketch at Sketch This Cards.
Colours inspired from the 2007-08 Stampin' Up catalogue.
I LOVE this card! I love the whole line of Boho West in new catty and I'm buying it ALL! For now, I used Baroque Motifs, cause apparantly it's the only set I own, and the colours Really Rust, Creamy Caramel and Close To Cocoa.
I used the slit punch to make the scallop and punched holes with my paper piercer. For the small strip running along the front, I crinkled it up, then inked it. It almost looks like leather. I stamped and cut out the small flower and attached with a brown brad (from Karen Foster...I wish SU had chocolate chip brads!)
I really like it! My neglected Really Rust is happy to be getting used!

Embellishment Giveaway!

If you go HERE and post a comment on her blog, you can win those cute embellishments!
If you mention I sent you, I get an extra entry!

Triangle Box Tutorial

What you will need:
-paper trimmer
-stylus or score blade
-4" x 8" neutral card stock
-hand-held circle punch
-ink
-stamps
-15" of ribbon

1-cut card stock 4" x 8".
2-With the 8" side against the trimmer, score at 4" (middle).
3-Turn card stock so the 4" side is against the trimmer. Make a little mark at 2" at the top and the bottom. This will show you where the middle is.
4- Position the card stock so that the top middle is at the score line on the trimmer and the middle is at the score line of the trimmer. This will be a diagonal. Score from top to middle. Do this on all 4 sides.

I have marked in black where your score lines are. Your card stock will look like this.

5-Random stamp the whole surface of your card stock.
6-Fold the scored edges inward.

7-Take your hole punch and punch through all 4 layers at the top.
8-Pass your ribbon through the holes and tie.
9-You can add a tag, if you like.

Your finished triangle box should look like this!
I put 2 doggie treats in mine and gave it to my neighbor (for her dogs).

Just For You

Di Hickman posted her sketch.
I used my new Three For You punch set. I really like this set. I am bound and determined I will use this set to its full (62.95) potential! LOL!
I stamped the BG with Print pattern then stamped the single flower from Three For You in the spaces. I used the gigantic flower from Looks Like Spring for the circle. It fit right in there. Used the dots on the Soft Sky panel and folded the corner with a brad. Stamped Just For You and punched the flowers.

Wedding Card

Daring Card Makers wants us to be inspired by love! Wedding, anniversary, Valentine...whatever! So I made a wedding card...black and white with a touch of silver! Used Baroque Motifs (embossed in white) and the soon to be retired wedding sentiment, organdy ribbon and silver cord.

Emboss Resist

How is it I've never tried this technique before? I was "blurfing" and saw that Nicole was finally blogging again and checked out her tutorial. Well, it's very easy and looks really cool!
I used White embossing powder on white cardstock, and sponged over with Wild Wasabi. Voila! A simple, elegant sympathy card.
(BTW, Nicole is the creator of my banner! Thanks, Nicole!)

Tag Inspired

This was a tough one for me...I don't do single layer cards very well. Angel at Angelocity has a challenge where we are to use this clothing tag as inspiration. I used the same colour scheme and used swirls and flowers to mimick the tag, also rounded the corners. I used a sentiment with a similar font. I made the sentiment into a tag to mimick the whole "tag theme".
This took me over an hour.
Those who know me are shocked, I know. I can usually whip out a card in 5 minutes. Like I said, this was a tough challenge!

Blog Candy Winner Announced!

First, sorry it took so long to post. I had to write down everyone's name. Then, I had to write down everyone who signed my guestbook. Then I had to double check the posts and write down any names of those who referred me to a friend. YIKES! It took awhile! All names were put into a large tupperware bowl and I pulled a name.
OK, so the winner is.....
NANCY GRANT!
Congratulations Nancy!
(wow, this will be going all the way to Alaska)!

Black and Pastels

Kimmie (Kraftin' Kimmie's Korner) has challenged us to combine black with pastels. I love this combination and have done it before (see here)(and here) but decided to use a stamp set I've only used once before! (good thing I earned it free).
Stamp sets: Big Blooms, Amazing to Zany
Ink: lavendar lace, pixie pink, cool caribbean, black
cardstock: black and white
Acc: making memories brads, SU tab punch

Got home late...

We had a great time at my niece's wedding. It was a simple ceremony, about 100 guests, very intimate. Her dress was gorgeous. The groom and groomsmen wore their kilts. Very handsome.
After the luncheon, and photos, it was time to go (around 5:00 pm) but we decided to continue to my Brother-in-law's to keep visiting. We didn't get home til 10:30.
I tried logging on from their place, but they have dial-up. Holy cow, it took 4 minutes for my page to load! It opened my eyes about dial-up! I changes a couple of my settings to hopefully help out anyone with dial-up view my page more easily.
I am so excited about all your comments on my blog treats post! I see some new names! And lots of new visitors to my guestbook! THANK YOU so much!
Off to catch up my blog reading!

I don't know about you, but I LOVE Allison's blog and I felt lost without her!

Maria Bell-The Queen of the Sketch!

I love Maria's wbsites (she has 2) and I visit every day! Card Inspired is awesome because of all the cool stamps Maria uses, and her colouring skills are BOSS! Stampin' Inspirations is purely Stampin' Up samples, so all you SU demos who have NOT been to Maria's website, GO! Go NOW! LOL!
Maria graciously shares her sketches with us, (over 200 at last count) and I graciously use them! Like this card.
I know, I know, Baroque Motifs AGAIN! (Does SU even HAVE other stamps)? I am in love with this set. It is unbelievably versatile!
I used the new River Rock and Groovy Guava with Chocolate Chip. I LOVE the combination!
OK, I PROMISE next project will use a different stamp set.

Here is Maria's sketch:

Season's Greetings

I know it's June! But when I paired Purely Pomegranite with Always Artichoke, I immediately thought Christmas! Add some gold Embossing Powder, and there ya go!
This is for Beate's weekend sketch challenge.

New Blogger Featured Artsist (06-22)

I have started a new feature...New Blogger Featured Artist. I may do this every week, but most likely it will be once a month.
Today's New Blogger that you all MUST go check out, because she is an AMAZING artist, is Laurie Schmidlin, AKA Lauraly on SCS. She has only been blogging since May 26, but I suspect she has been stamping a lot longer! Her samples are gorgeous!

Laurie is a SAHM with 4 children! When does she find time to create all these gorgeous cards? LOL!
Please take a minute to check out her blog:

This is for Colleen's Throwdown!

Today's Throwdown is to CASE one of Colleen's featured artists. Maria from Card Inspired is on this list, and I LOVE her work, but I just used one of sketches yesterday, so I chose Bad Sherry! Here is MY card (yes, I know, Baroque Motifs AGAIN! At least I used different colours this time! LOL!)

And this is Bad Sherry's card:

I think this is my favourite set!

Holy wow, I love this set, Baroque Motifs! And these new colours! I LOVE them! When will I ever have time for laundry, or cooking, or grocery shopping? I could spend all day lovingly stamping with my Baroque Motifs!
This was made for a sketch challenge over at Poetic Artistry.

Tea Book Tutorial

These little tea booklets make great gifts! There'sa lot of measuring, scoring and folding, so I hope you can follow along.

Booklet: cut a piece of card stock 6 1/2" x 3 1/4"...score it at 3 1/2" and again at 3". Fold along the score lines.
Cut a piece of card stock 2 3/4" x 3"...this will be a layer piece.
Cut a piece of white card stock 2 1/2" x 2 3/4".
Stamp your image on the white piece. Adhere to the layer. Adhere the layer to the front of the booklet.

Insert: Cut a piece of printer paper at 6 1/4" x 6"...score at 3 1/4" x 1/4" (The 1/4" will fold over to "close" the tea insert). Turn the paper and score down the middle at 3 2/16" x 2 14/16". Fold along score lines.
Cut a piece of ribbon 18" long. Adhere it along the back of the booklet.

Take a circle punch (I used 1 1/4") and place half-way at the edge of the folded insert. This will create a place to grab the tea bags out of their pockets.

Your insert should look like this:

Now, put adhesive along the 1/4" score you made earlier and fold.

OK, now take a jumbo wheel and run it along the front and back of your insert.
Place the insert in the booklet, making sure it is centered.
Take an eyelet hole punch and punch a hole in the center of the booklet, near the top and bottom. Set your eyelets. This will ensure the insert stays put!

I took my circle punch and made a little message for the back of the booklet. This just helps to keep the back ribbon attached.
Put a tea bag in each of the pouches, close and tie the ribbon! A gift ready for giving!

Two Challenges in One!

I made this card for this challenge and realised I could also use it as Tami's colour challenge! I love being efficient! LOL!
Stamps: CTMH
CS: Pumpkin Pie, Appricot Appeal (SU), white
Brads (MM)

So Weird

It is Monday night and for the first time in months, I am not going to night school. It is so weird. It's hard to wrap my head around the fact that I'm done.
I kinda miss it...
Now I have no one to talk chemistry with...
It's a little sad, actually.

Mix'n'Mingle

Another card for Diane's challenge. I love this sketch...I think it is so versatile!
I used the SU retiring set Mix & Mingle. This was one of those sets not used very much. I liked it because of its retro feel, which looks GREAT with Cool Caribbean, my absolute FAVOURITE colour!

Happy Hallowe'en!

I was feeling Hallowe'en-y today, and came upon this sketch challenge from Jen at Pieces of Me and thought it would make a perfect Hallowe'en tag.
I used the Booglie Eyes set from Stampin' Up! There is a lot of detail you can't really see, but I embossed bats in the backround (Bitty Boos Too...SU) and added black ric rac along the bottom and middle of the tag. I also used my slit punch to create scallops then punched holes in the scallops. Used the Hallowe'en designer paper. Ribbon used: pumpkin and black grosgrain (SU) and black and white polka-dot organdy ribbon (unknown).

You Make-Up My Day

I came upon Diane's Sunday Sketch Challenge, and I'm always up for a challenge! We had to use ONE retiring Stampin' Up set only, no other set, so I chose Glam Girl because a) it is one of my favourites and b) it has multiple images and sentiments, including You Make Up My Day, which cracks me up every time!

Cracked Glass Tutorial

Cracked Glass is one of my favourite techniques, and it's easy to do, though a bit time consuming!
1-stamp your image.
2-colour your image, if necesary.
3-cover your image with Versamark.
4-pour on the Ultra-Thick Embossing Powder (SU Glassy Glaze).
5-heat with a heat gun.
6-repeat steps 3,4 and 5 TWO MORE times...(total of 3 times).
7-place image in freezer for 2 minutes.
8-remove from freezer and IMMEDIATELY bend the paper. It will crack.
9-rub the image in Chocolate Chip ink, making sure to get ink in the cracks then wipe off the excess with a Kleenex.

See, easy peasy!

CS:Old Olive, More Mustard, White (SU) and black Bazill
ink: black Staz-On, Chocolate Chip
acc: Old Olive, Chocolate Chip and Summer Sun watercolour crayons, water colour brush, twine, pop dots, Versamark, Glassy GlazeEP.

CTMH Cards

Was feeling so creative last night after my chemistry exam that I whipped up 5 cards! 3 using my TAC bug set and these 2 using CTMH!
I think this Friend To Friend set is so cute! I used Chocolate, Bamboo and Desert Sand cardstock (CTMH) and Cranberry, Chocolate and Desert Sand ink (CTMH). I stamped and cut out the flowers and added the chocolate and bamboo brads (CTMH). I LOVE this card!

Used Close To Cocoa and Old Olive card stock (SU) and Always Artichoke (SU), Bamboo and Desert Sand (CTMH) ink. The sets are Jungle Leaves and In The Wild (CTMH). I stamped and cut out the leaves and popped them up with pop dots.

TAC cards

I was feeling so creative last night that I whipped up 5 cards!
I love the brown shades together. I think these worms are so cute, and I LOVE the way this card turned out! I used the Wormest Wishes sentiment to make the back panel and used the sentiment from Bugs & Kisses (SU) as my main image. I stamped and cut out the worm and popped him up with pop dots.

This card used a sketch from Splitcoast Stampers. I used the double rectangle punch (SU) to make the ribbon holes and weaved the Red Gingham ribbon (SU) through.
I love these colours together!

My Final Exam!

Well, this was my last chenistry class. I'm going to miss it. I wrote my final exam. When everyone was done and left the class, I went back in and asked Mr. Kfoury if he could mark my exam so I could see my mark (cause I had a feeling I got a good mark!)Well, I ended up getting 86% on the exam (5 wrong answers) and a final grade of 93% I am very pleased!
So my adventure in night school is over. I hope Mr. Kfoury is still here in September (he's thinking of moving to France) and he teaches Biology, cause I would love to take his class again!

Just Clownin' Around...

Di Hickman has her Wednesday card sketch up! As usual, I didn't follow it exactly...
This card is 8.5"x5.5"...my first time using this size. I used the stamp sets Clowning Around and It's Your Birthday (SU) and the colours Pixie Pink, Gable Green, Tempting Turquoise and Summer Sun. I love this colour combination. The clown's pants are cut out and popped up with dimensionals, and I added 2 Green Galore brads as his buttons. Now I know some of you HATE clowns, but I just love this set from last year's summer mini and I hope it makes it in the new catalogue!
